Fall Fertilization Gives You a Greener Lawn Next Spring
By Jaime Staufenbeil, Milorganite® Agronomist

Set Your Lawn Up for Success.
There are many benefits to dormant lawn fertilization—also known as dormant feeding or winter fertilization— the greatest of which might be that in spring, your lawn will be healthier and may green up nearly two weeks earlier.

Northerners with cool-season lawns apply your dormant application of Milorganite fertilizer as late in the season as possible, just before the first deep freeze or snowfall—generally in mid to late November.

How to Lay Sod
By Jaime Staufenbeil, Milorganite® Agronomist
7 MIN READ
Laying sod isn’t a complicated process, and it can be a do-it-yourself (DIY) undertaking that requires careful planning and scheduling, as well as significant time, labor, and budget.

The best time of year to lay sod is when the grass is actively growing and the weather is cooler—early to mid-fall. You can sod small areas or your entire lawn until the ground freezes. The cooler temperature means the sod won’t dry out as quickly as in warmer weather.
