Fall Fertilization Gives You a Greener Lawn Next Spring
By Jaime Staufenbeil, Milorganite® Agronomist
2 MIN READ
Set Your Lawn Up for Success.
There are many benefits to dormant lawn fertilization—also known as dormant feeding or winter fertilization— such as helping your lawn recover more quickly from winter damage and snow mold. Your lawn will be healthier and may green up nearly two weeks earlier than your neighbors’ if they didn’t fertilize.

Northerners with cool-season lawns apply your dormant application of Milorganite fertilizer as late in the season as possible, just before the first deep freeze or snowfall—generally in mid to late November.

How to Lay Sod

The best time of year to lay sod is when the grass is actively growing and the weather is cooler—early to mid-fall. You can sod small areas or your entire lawn until the ground freezes. The cooler temperature means the sod won’t dry out as quickly as in warmer weather.

How to Transition Your Lawn Into Winter
By Joe Lamp’l - Creator & Host – Growing a Greener World® (and the "Joe" behind joegardener.com®)
3 MIN WATCH TIME
Your lawn's last fertilizer application of the year is probably the most important one. Why? That last fertilization, as you're going into the dormant period, is what sets up everything for the following spring. Learn how to properly transition your lawn into winter with these tips from Joe Gardener.
I am a third-generation Milorganite customer and swear by the product. I apply it to our 80,000 sq ft lawn here in the Pacific Northwest following the schedule on the bag, and the results are great.
